Morgan Bråse
I have always enjoyed photographing and documenting my surroundings.
If you are interested in purchasing a photo or a print, please feel free to get in touch.
I would also like to tell you about our fantastic island, Klädesholmen, its history, and the several-hundred-year-long herring tradition associated with it.
If you would like to hear me speak about Klädesholmen and its development from 1594 to the present day, simply contact me and I will be happy to give a lecture on the subject. You will find my contact details in the menu at the top right.

The Weather Balcony
The term “The Weather Balcony” has become well known thanks to all the photos I take from my balcony, which are often featured on TV4 Nyhetsmorgon.
In the menu, you will find a link to a camera that streams live from the balcony.

About Me
I am a true fifth-generation herring man and have devoted my entire professional life to herring.
With over 50 years of experience, I have seen the industry develop and change, but my passion for herring has always remained the same. I have not only worked to preserve traditional herring pickling methods, but also contributed to renewing and improving production.
I have deep knowledge of herring and herring preparation, yet I learn something new every day.
Klädesholmen’s contribution to Swedish culinary history and Swedish food traditions cannot be overstated — it is a central hub of Swedish food culture. That is why I believe it is important to share this story, also to promote future herring consumption.
Telling the story of herring helps strengthen interest in herring consumption and provides tools for addressing future challenges in the field. The long history of herring offers many lessons that are relevant both from a cultural-historical perspective and in today’s context.

Cultural Connection
By sharing the history of herring, consumers can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the product. Historical stories about the importance and role of herring in food traditions can make it more attractive and create a sense of belonging.

Sustainability and Awareness
By sharing historical methods of sustainable fishing and preservation, today’s producers can raise awareness about the importance of taking responsibility for fish resources. This can encourage consumers to choose sustainably produced herring.

Economic Significance
Herring has had great economic importance for many communities, both through the fishing industry and as a trade commodity. By understanding herring as an economic resource, we can better appreciate its role in both local and global contexts.

Social and Community Aspects
By emphasizing traditions surrounding herring — such as shared meals and celebrations — social bonds and a sense of community around herring consumption can be strengthened, for example through events and campaigns.
