Herring Walk

Historic Herring Walk on Klädesholmen

Klädesholmen, located on Sweden’s west coast, is rich in history and charm. My historic herring walks on this picturesque island will give you deeper knowledge of the island and its herring heritage.

To give you a better understanding of Klädesholmen’s history and its connection to herring fishing, I invite you to join me on a guided walk around the island. Together we will explore the community, stroll through the narrow alleyways, and pass the warehouses where the herring tradition has been passed down through generations.

I have worked in the herring industry for nearly 50 years and have been part of the period that has seen the greatest development of the island’s business activities. The Bråse family’s herring business began in the 1860s and is now in its sixth generation within the industry.

There is something magical about walking around Klädesholmen. Whether it is the scent of the sea or the sound of the waves against the rocks, you always feel close to history on this island. By exploring and learning more about Klädesholmen’s rich past through my herring walks, I hope you will gain a deeper love and appreciation for the heritage that has shaped this unique place.

The price for a walk is 190 SEK per person.

The walk can also be combined with a visit to Klädesholmen’s Herring Museum, “Sillebua.” An additional fee of 40 SEK per person applies.
